One question, answered properly, in weeks rather than quarters.
A diagnostic engagement with a defined question, a fixed fee and a written answer. For founders who need a decision made well, not a relationship started.
What this is for
The situations founders arrive with
01
One decision is blocking everything
A pricing change, a name, a market entry, a partnership. Nothing else moves until it is settled, and it has been unsettled for months.
02
Internal debate has stalled
Two credible positions inside the leadership team and no way to break the tie from inside it.
03
Retainers feel disproportionate
The question is real, the commitment is not. There is no appetite for a twelve-month relationship to resolve a six-week problem.
Most businesses do not need a year of counsel. They need one question answered by someone who has answered it before.
The engagement
5 stages, each with a written deliverable.
Scope, fee and dates are fixed in the agreement before work begins. There are no open-ended engagements here.
01
Scoping call
Thirty minutes to establish whether the question you are asking is the question that needs answering. Often it is not, and that is said plainly.
02
Written brief and fixed fee
The question, the method, the deliverable, the date and the fee, agreed before any work begins.
03
Diagnostic
The evidence gathered: market, financials, customers, competitors and internal interviews, sized to the question rather than to a template.
04
Working session
Findings presented to the decision-makers in the room, with the disagreements aired rather than smoothed over.
05
Recommendation
A written recommendation with the reasoning, the risks and what you should do first. Signed by the principal.
What you receive

Whether this is the right engagement
Built for
- A single decision of real consequence
- A leadership team deadlocked on direction
- Testing the firm before a larger mandate
Not this engagement
- Need us on call through the year? Take the Advisory Retainer
- Wanting a second opinion to ratify a decision already taken
Questions
Asked before every mandate.
How long does it take?+
Two to six weeks depending on how much primary research the question needs. The date is fixed in the brief.
What if the answer is that we should do nothing?+
Then that is the recommendation, in writing, with the reasoning. It is one of the more common outcomes and one of the more valuable.
Does the fee carry into a larger engagement?+
Yes. If you engage within ninety days, the consulting fee is credited against the larger scope.
